The city is filled with grey boxes, advertising pillars, pipes, antennas and barred openings that have been growing like mushrooms on an inscrutable underground under the cover of urban infrastructures.

In his installation "Submarines", Peter Behrbohm creates an immersive narrative that invites visitors on a journey of discovery into the underground. As it turns out, manhole covers, bollards, foundation remnants, kiosks, ventilation shafts, transformer housings, etc. seem to have long belonged together, contrary to expectations. The everyday parts of the city merely serve as camouflaged feelers, snorkels or entrances to a dystopian parallel world. Before the eyes of the public, a system of anxiety rooms has grown underground, serving as a retreat for those trying to escape the nervous times. What plan is being pursued in the underground? Are the spaces in contact with each other? Is even the exhibition venue part of the network?

During the exhibition period, the building will be excavated by specialists with heavy equipment to get to the bottom of the rumours. For the opening ceremony, the sound experts from Nadelör are conducting sonic experiments under the pavement.
